THz- BRIDGE

"Tera-Hertz radiation in Biological Research, Investigation on Diagnostics and study of potential Genotoxic Effects"

A RTD Project in the framework of the EU "Quality of Life" programme

In this project TeraHertz (THz) radiation is used to study structural and functional properties of biological systems, following a streamline of increasing complexity: from bio-molecules to cell membranes, cell nuclei and tissues. Aim of THz-BRIDGE is also to investigate the potential damage of electromagnetic radiation on biological systems in the above spectral ranges, and to guide the development of biomedical imaging at THz frequencies.
The reseaarch activity of the project has covered the period from Feb. 1, 2001 to Jan 31, 2004. The final report and related documents, as well as a spectroscopic database are now available to the public.
For further information please contact the project coordinator:
Dr. Gian Piero Gallerano

The dissemination activity of the THz-BRIDGE results and its perspectives is being performed within the EMF-NET Coordination Action of the EU.
